How to choose photos for a custom sports poster
Choose clear athlete photos for a personalized sports poster. Learn what to check in headshots and action photos, avoid common upload mistakes, and review your preview.
Start with the original image
Use the original photo file when you have it. Screenshots, messaging-app copies, and images saved from social media can be smaller or more compressed than the original. Enlarging a small copy does not restore detail that is already missing.
Open the photo and zoom in on the athlete’s face. If their features are blurry or hidden, choose another picture when possible. A clear image gives you a better starting point for reviewing likeness in the personalized preview.
Choose a headshot with visible features
Look for even lighting, a visible face, and a natural expression. Avoid a face lost in shadow, covered by a hand, or strongly changed by a beauty filter. A clear view of the athlete’s features is more useful than an elaborate background.
Follow the photo suggestions on the design you choose. Some styles ask for different combinations of headshot, action, or side-view photos. More uploads are not automatically better; choose photos that add useful, consistent information.
Keep the important parts of the action
An action photo should show the athlete clearly enough to understand the pose and uniform. Check whether a tight crop cuts off a hand, foot, ball, stick, or other important part of the moment. A less crowded image can also make the athlete easier to distinguish from teammates.
For basketball, check the shooting or dribbling hand and the ball. For football or hockey, consider whether the face is visible or whether an additional clear photo would help. For gymnastics, cheer, and other full-body poses, check the complete body position.
Keep the details consistent
Choose photos of the same athlete and check which season, uniform, and jersey number you want to remember. If the photos show different teams or years, be clear about the details you enter in the form.
Only upload images you have authority to provide. Private creation uploads and permission for a public team display are different decisions. Use the available privacy choices and ask support when you are unsure how an image will be used.
Use the preview as your final check
After uploading, review the personalized artwork before deciding whether to buy. Look closely at facial features, pose, uniform details, name, and number. Do not assume that an input detail is correct in the finished composition simply because you typed it correctly.
If an important detail is unclear, try a clearer source photo or ask for help before purchasing. Check the final display options separately: the artwork preview helps you evaluate the image, while the format, dimensions, price, and shipping information describe the purchase.
